I am based at the Historic Trangle campus of Thomas Nelson Community College in Williamsburg, Virginia. I have a diverse academic background of Mathematics, Computer Science (M.S. College of William and Mary), and graduate work in GIS at Virginia Tech and NC State. My professional experience and interests include small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS or drones), web design/development, programming, web and mobile GIS, best practices for distance learning, creating service learning opportunities for GIS students and application of GIS across curricula.
I am a Co-Investigator of GeoTEd-UAS, an Advanced Technological Education grant from the National Science Foundation (Expanding Geospatial Technician Education Through Virginia’s Community Colleges-Unmanned Aerial Systems, see geoted.org).
All course content and communication with students is through Blackboard.
Things I Do
My primary responsibility is Teaching and Curriculum development, however I am always looking for ways to engage students in interesting real world activities outside the classroom.
