Dr. Hyle joined the Thomas Nelson faculty in 1975.  Prior to 1975, Dr. Hyle taught three years at the College of The Albemarle in N.C. and two years at CNU.  With degrees in Biology and Marine Science, Dr. Hyle maintains an interest in local  Chesapeake Bay ichthyofauna. The collection of fishes in the lower bay has been primarily in the area of Grandview Nature Preserve.  A Checklist of the fishes of the shore zone in the preserve is being developed and is linked to this page . A grant from the Chesapeake Bay Restoration Foundation Fund this year (2004-5) provided funds to develop and conduct field trips to the Grandview Nature Preserve for area high school students.

                                                ANNOUNCEMENTS 

                         Dr. Hyle is not the current chairman of the Biology Department.  The Department's co-chairs are Ms. Kim Demnicki (Hampton Campus) and Mr. Martin Zahn (Historic Triangle Campus).  Direct your questions about Biology to them.     After 41 years of teaching , three at The College of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City, N.C.,   two at CNU in Newport News, VA. and  thirty six at TNCC in Hampton, VA.
