Whenever we have guests in from another region who want to experience some dining which is unique to the area, we will suggest Indian Fields Tavern in “plantation country” between Williamsburg and Richmond.  A reviewer for the Daily Press a couple years ago agrees with my suggestion for making a visit to Indian Fields into a total regional experience, advising, “It is a beautiful drive to Indian Fields so it's an advantage to go to dinner before the end of daylight savings time or go for lunch or brunch. . . The tall trees sometimes seem to form a canopy over the road.  The entrances to several plantations are located off Route 5”  (Johnston). Once we have decided when we are going to Indian Fields, we make reservations for that evening to eat at the restaurant; reservations are a necessity because of the small size of this refurbished Victorian farmhouse establishment.  Then we decide which of the nearby plantations we will visit in the afternoon.
