Summer 2010 Assignments, Eng 111

Academic Paper format (following MLA criteria and English 111 course preferences)

·         Use Times new Roman font in 12-point size.

·         1-inch margins on top, bottom, sides

·         Double-space the entire paper.

·         Add no extra space between paragraphs, nor between the heading and title, nor between the title and the body of the paper.

·         Give your papers a good, descriptive title, and center the title over the body text using the centering command, not spacing it over

·         Headings will have three lines (and will also be double spaced, as is the whole paper): Your full name on the first line, the date on the second line, and the assignment on the third line (for example, Restaurant Review).

Grading

Each graded assignment carries the same weight, whether it is a one-pager, a single paragraph-length summary, a 2-or more page essay, or one of the in-class presentations.

·         Shows a sense of style

·         It is good, as is, with very little revision or editing needed; i.e., it’s an A on the first submission.

2 points is awarded upon revision, IF . . .

·         Content is covered satisfactorily and the length is sufficient for the assignment

·         Revisions respond to my evaluation feedback

·         Editing corrections are made following my evaluation feedback

1 point is awarded if an honest effort is made to fulfill the assignment but the result is . . .

·         Too short

·         Poorly edited

·         Or, in general, misses the mark

0 points are earned if the assignment misses deadline or is otherwise not attempted or not turned in at all.
