Career Exploration and Analysis

What jobs are you naturally suited for, and what jobs are suited to you? What do you know about the profession you wish to go into? Career inventories may help you to get a perspective on a field or profession that you might not have considered yourself to be suited for, or they might reinforce what you have always known about which field you wish to go into professionally. Moreover, there are many sources of information describing career fields and job availability, from local newspapers to national databases.

What do you know about the career field you wish to enter once you have completed your college education? Is it a good field to go into? Does it pay well? What is the actual nature of the work you will be doing? Are the working conditions good? Is it a high-stress job field? Will the work itself be rewarding to you? Will jobs be available to you when you are ready to enter the job market in your chosen profession? Find out answers to these questions and write a documented paper of 700-1000 words describing what you have learned about choosing a career field and about the profession you wish to get into. Use direct quotes very sparingly in the paper. Mostly, sumarize and paraphrase, but document the paper correctly following MLA guidelines.

Your primary audience for this paper will be other first- and second-year college students majoring in your same field of study. What will you tell them about the field you all wish to get into?
