PED 101-102 : FUNDAMENTALS OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY I-II
(1 credit/l credit) May be taken out of sequence.
Presents principles underlying the components of physical fitness. Utilizes conditioning activities involving cardiovascular strength and endurance, respiratory efficiency, muscular strength, and flexibility. May include fitness assessment, nutrition and weight control information, and concepts of wellness. Lecture 1 hour + lab 1 hour = total 2 hours per week.
PED 103-104 : AEROBIC FITNESS I-II
(2 credits/2 credits) May be taken out of sequence.
Develops cardiovascular fitness through activities designed to elevate and sustain heart rates appropriate to age and physical condition. Lecture 1 hour + lab 2 hours = total 3 hours per week.
PED 116 : LIFETIME FITNESS AND WELLNESS
(2 credits)
Provides a study of fitness and wellness and their relationship to a healthy lifestyle. Defines fitness and wellness, evaluates the student’s level of fitness and wellness, and motivates the student to incorporate physical fitness and wellness into daily living. A personal fitness/wellness plan is required for the 2-credit course. Lecture 2 hours + lab 1 hour = total 3 hours per week.
PED 121 : RACQUETBALL I
(1 credit)
Teaches racquetball skills and strategies for team and individual play. Includes terminology, scoring, etiquette, equipment selection, and safety. Lecture 1 hour + lab 1 hour = total 2 hours per week.
PED 123 : TENNIS I
(1 credit)
Teaches tennis skills with emphasis on stroke development and includes rules, strategies for individual and team play, scoring, terminology, and etiquette. Lecture 1 hour + lab 1 hour = total 2 hours per week.
PED 126 : ARCHERY
(1 credit)
Teaches skills and techniques of target archery. Focuses on use and maintenance of equipment, terminology, and safety. Lecture 1 hour + lab 1 hour = total 2 hours per week.
PED 133 : GOLF I
(1 credit)
Teaches basic skills of golf, rules, etiquette, scoring, terminology, equipment selection and use, and strategy. Lecture 1 hour + lab 1 hour = total 2 hours per week.
PED 135 : BOWLING I
(1 credit)
Teaches basic bowling skills and techniques, scoring, rules, etiquette, and terminology. Lecture 1 hour + lab 1 hour = total 2 hours per week.
PED 140 : WATER AEROBICS
(1 credit)
Focuses on cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, and flexibility using water resistance. Includes the principles and techniques of aerobic exercise. Lecture 1 hour + lab 1 hour = total 2 hours per week.
PED 141 : SWIMMING I
(1 credit)
Introduces skills and methods of swimming strokes. Focuses on safety and physical conditioning. Lecture 1 hour + lab 1 hour = total 2 hours per week.

Introduces basketball skills, techniques, rules, and strategies. Lecture 1 hour + lab 1 hour = total 2 hours per week.
PED 154 : VOLLEYBALL
(1 credit)
Introduces skills, techniques, strategies, rules, and scoring. Lecture 1 hour + lab 1 hour = total 2 hours per week.
PED 156 : SOFTBALL
(1 credit)
Emphasizes skills, techniques, strategies, rules, and scoring. Lecture 1 hour + lab 1 hour total 2 hours per week.
PED 176 : CAMPING
(1 credit)
Introduces camping techniques, equipment, site selection and use, safety procedures, and camping ecology. Lecture 1 hour + lab 1 hour = total 2 hours per week.
PED 177 : BASIC CANOEING
(1 credit)
Introduces basic canoeing techniques, selection and care of equipment, terminology, safety procedures, and navigating currents. Lecture 1 hour + lab 1 hour = total 2 hours per week.
PED 206 : SPORTS APPRECIATION
(2 credits)
Focuses on the history, trends, rules, methods strategy, and terminology of selected sports activities. Provides student awareness as a spectator and/or participant. Lecture 2 hours per week.
