Surveys data transmission systems, communication lines, data sets, network, interfacing, protocols, and modes of transmission. Emphasizes network structure and operation. Lecture 3 hours per week.

(3 credits) Prerequiste(s): ITN 106 or (ITN 171 and ITE 100).
Provides instruction in networking media, physical and logical topologies, common networking standards and popular networking protocols. Emphasizes the TCP/IP protocol suite and related IP addressing schemes, including CIDR. Includes selected topics in network implementation, support and LAN/WAN connectivity. Lecture 3 hours per week.

Teaches use of operating system utilities and multiple-level directory structures, creation of batch files, and configuration of microcomputer environments. May include a study of graphical user interfaces. Maps to A+ Software. Lecture 3 hours per week.

Provides instruction in installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting of Windows 2000 Professional as a desktop operating systems in a networked data communications environment. Lecture 3 hours per week.

Provides introduction to networking using the OSI reference model. Includes data encapsulation, TCP/IP suite, routing, IP addressing, and structured cabling design and implementation. Lecture 3 hours + lab 2 hours = total 5 hour per week.

(4 credits) Prerequisite(s): ITN 154.
Features an introduction to basic router configuration using Cisco IOS software. Includes system components, interface configuration, IP network design, troubleshooting techniques, configuration and verification of IP addresses, and router protocols. Lecture 3 hours + lab 2 hours = total 5 hours per week.

BASIC SWITCHING AND ROUTING – CISCO (replaces TEL 250)
(4 credits) Prerequisite(s): ITN 155.
Centers instruction in LAN segmentation using bridges, routers, and switches. Includes fast Ethernet, access lists, routing protocols, spanning tree protocol, virtual LANs, and network management. Lecture 3 hours + lab 2 hours = total 5 hours per week.

WAN TECHNOLOGIES – CISCO (replaces TEL 251)
(4 credits) Prerequisite(s): ITN 156.
Concentrates on an introduction to Wide Area Networking (WANs). Includes WAN design, LAPB, Frame Relay, ISDN, HDLC, and PPP. Lecture 3 hours + lab 2 hours = total 5 hours per week.

UNIX I (replaces IST 108)
(3 credits)
Provides an introduction to UNIX operating systems. Teaches login procedures, file creation, UNIX file structure, input/output control, and the UNIX shell. Lecture 3 hours per week.
