HIS 101-102 : HISTORY OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION I-II
(3 credits/3 credits) May be taken out of sequence. Prerequisite(s): ENG 03, ENG 05 if required by individual student’s placement.
Examines the development of western civilization from ancient times to the present. The first semester ends with the seventeenth century; the second semester continues through modem times. Lecture 3 hours per week.
HIS 111-112 : HISTORY OF WORLD CIVILIZATION I-II
(3 credits/3 credits) May be taken out of sequence. Prerequisite(s): ENG 03, ENG 05 if required by individual student’s placement.
Surveys Asian, African, Latin American, and European civilizations from the ancient period to the present. Lecture 3 hours per week.
HIS 121-122 : UNITED STATES HISTORY I-II

Surveys United States history from its beginning to the present. Lecture 3 hours per week.

Studies the role of women and attitudes toward women in American society from colonial times to the present. Lecture 3 hours per week.
HIS 141-142 : AFRICAN-AMERICAN HISTORY I-II
(3 credits/3 credits) May be taken out of sequence. Prerequisite(s): ENG 03, ENG 05 if required by individual student’s placement.
Surveys the history of Black Americans from their African origins to the present. Lecture 3 hours per week.
