CHM 01 : CHEMISTRY I
(3 credits) Prerequisite(s): ENG 05 if required by individual student’s placement.
Presents basic inorganic and organic principles to students with little or no chemistry background. Lecture 3 hours per week.
CHM 101-102 : GENERAL CHEMISTRY I-II
(4 credits/4 credits) Must be taken in sequence. Prerequisite(s): ENG 05 if required by individual student’s placement; Algebra I or MTH 03.
Emphasizes experimental and theoretical aspects of inorganic, organic, and biological chemistry. Discusses general chemistry concepts as they apply to issues within our society and environment. Designed for the non-science major. Lecture 3 hours + lab 3 hours = total 6 hours per week.
CHM 110 : SURVEY OF CHEMISTRY
(3 credits) Prerequisite(s): Algebra I or MTH 03.
Introduces the basic concepts of general, organic, and biochemistry with emphasis on their applications to other disciplines. Lecture 3 hours per week.
CHM 111-112 : COLLEGE CHEMISTRY I-II
(4 credits/4 credits) Must be taken in sequence. Prerequisite(s): ENG 05 if required by individual student’s placement. Corequisite(s): MTH 163 or permission of the instructor.
Explores the fundamental laws, theories, and mathematical concepts of chemistry. Designed primarily for science and engineering majors. Lecture 3 hours + lab 3 hours = total 6 hours per week.
CHM 122 : HEALTH SCIENCE CHEMISTRY II
(4 credits) Prerequisite(s): CHM 110.
Introduces the health science student to concepts of inorganic, organic, and biological chemistry as applicable to the allied health profession. Lecture 3 hours + lab 3 hours = total 6 hours per week.
CHM 241-242 : ORGANIC CHEMISTRY I-II
(3 credits/3credits) Must be taken in sequence. Prerequisite(s): CHM 102 or CHM 112 or equivalent. Corequisite(s): CHM 243 and CHM244.
Introduces fundamental chemistry of carbon compounds, including structures, physical properties, syntheses, and typical reactions. Emphasizes reaction mechanisms. Lecture 3 hours per week.
CHM 243-244 : Organic Chemistry Laboratory I-II
(1 credit) Corequisite(s): CHM 241 and 242.
Taken concurrently with CHM 241 and CHM 242. Laboratory 3 hours per week.
