Ellen Derwin is a full-time student success consultant for the college division of Houghton Mifflin.  She has 14 years of experience in higher education and 4 years of experience as a manager in the non-profit sector.  She has been an administrator at both public and private universities.  At Chapman University and the California State University system, Ellen developed and marketed online teacher credential and professional development programs for K-12 teachers.  As the director of business and education partnerships at DeVry University, she designed career awareness programs for high school counselors and teachers and initiated a nationwide program to inspire high school girls to pursue careers in business and technology.  In each of her positions she has initiated partnerships with K-12 districts, higher education, community-based organizations, and corporations.  Ellen has experience teaching business communications, psychology and student success courses, and is currently an online adjunct instructor for Corinthian Colleges.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Denison University and a Master’s degree in Social Ecology from the University of California at Irvine.  Currently, Ellen is enrolled in Fielding Graduate University’s doctoral program in Media Psychology.
